Camping
- What is your cancellation policy?
- All reservations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Do you offer seasonal campsites?
- We do not offer seasonal campsites at any of our campground locations.
- What campgrounds does Brown County operate?
- Brown County operates campgrounds at Bay Shore Park, the Fairgrounds, and the Reforestation Camp.
- Are dogs allowed in your campgrounds?
- Yes. We allow a maximum of three dogs per registered camper. Dogs must be kept on a leash and adhere to designated dog-friendly trails and campground areas.

- Which sites have water and electric and which don't?
- On our website, under Camping, the site details (lengths and amps) are available for each campground. When viewing sites on the online reservation portal, sites with water and electric are $34/night and rustic sites are $24/night.
- How do I reserve a site?
- At Bay Shore Park and the Reforestation Camp, you can go online to make your reservation.
- The Fairgrounds does not accept reservations.
- What time is check-in and check-out?
- Check-in is at 3:30pm and check-out is at 2:00pm.
- How many people can be on one site?
- Up to five non-family members can be on one site.
- How many vehicles can be on one site?
- Only two vehicles are allowed for each site.
- Are gas/electric golf carts and ATVs allowed?
- No.
- Can I put a tent on my site alongside an RV?
- Yes, you can put up to one tent and one RV on any non-group campsite!
- How long can I camp at a Brown County campground?
- A person can camp for a maximum of 21 consecutive dates at any Brown County campground before they must vacate all Brown County campgrounds for 14 days prior to returning.
- When are the campgrounds open during the year?
- Campgrounds typically open in April/May and close at the end of October. Check our website for the latest updates and information.
- How do I know how many first-come, first-serve sites are available at Bay Shore?
- Availability can be viewed here.
- Can I change my reservation after I've already made it?
- All reservations are non-refundable and non-transferable, so make sure to plan ahead before booking a campsite. Adding days onto your stay is permitted as long as the site is available. Check with campground staff for more information.
- Do you require a county park pass for your campgrounds?
- No! All you need to camp at a Brown County campground is a reservation.
- How can I see which sites are available at Bay Shore Park and the Reforestation Camp?
- When you go to the Camping tab and click Reserve Online, you will be led to the online reservation portal. After selecting a campground, you can choose arrival dates and nights you are staying and see availability for that time frame.
- Can I check into my site early/late?
- If the campsite is empty when you arrive, you are more than welcome to check in early. You can also check in from 3:30pm-10:00pm on the day your reservation starts. If you are running a day behind, that is not a problem, either.
- Where do I check in at?
- There is no physical office or building to check in at. You are automatically checked in at 3:30pm.
- What is the address of your campground(s)?
- Addresses can be found here.
- Will I receive a refund if I leave early?
- No refunds are given for early departures.
- Are fireworks allowed?
- No fireworks are allowed at our campgrounds.
- I left something behind at the campground. Now what?
- Contact the Parks Office with a description of the item and when/where you believe it was misplaced.
- Do your campgrounds have dump stations?
- Yes. All dump stations are free for registered campers. For everyone else, it is $10.
- I don't fit in my campsite. Now what?
- If you wish to transfer sites, contact campground staff. You will also need to pay a $30 transfer fee.

- What happens if I lose my sticker/pass?
- The county is not responsible for any lost permits, so please make sure to keep track of them. You will need to purchase a new pass if you lose the original. To check on the mailing status of your pass or to report a pass lost in the mail, please contact the Main Parks Office.

- What do I do if I get a citation/violation notice?
- Follow the instructions on the citation/violation notice you received. If you have questions, contact the Parks Office.
- What buildings/areas does Brown County rent out?
- Brown County rents out many shelters and areas, which can be found by clicking here.
- What is your cancellation policy?
- All reservations are non-refundable and non-transferable, so please be sure to plan ahead.
- How far in advance can I make a reservation?
- You can reserve a shelter up to one year in advance. All reservations for any given month in the upcoming calendar year can be made starting on the first working day of that month in the current calendar year. So, reservations for October 2025 would open up on the first working day of October 2024.
- Is there a cutoff for making reservations?
- Yes. All reservations must be made at least 14 business days before the event takes place. Staff schedules will also be checked to see if we can accommodate your request.
- Will someone be there to open up the shelter when I arrive?
- The shelter will open at the time that is on your receipt. A staff member will leave their phone number on a contact card in the shelter for you.
- Will someone be there to close the shelter after my event?
- The ranger/staff member will know what time your reservation ends, but if you decide to leave earlier, you can call and let them know.
- What time will the rental be for?
- Each rental defaults to 10am-10pm unless stated otherwise. For Pamperin Park and the Reforestation Camp, the hours can be extended until midnight for an extra charge of $100/hour. The option of having the shelter opened at 9am is available for $100/hour as well. Premises must be cleaned and vacated at the paid-for time of departure.
- What are your rules for alcohol?
- No alcoholic beverages may be consumed by underage individuals. Alcoholic beverages must not be consumed in glass bottles.
- Can we move some chairs outside the shelter?
- All chairs and tables inside the park shelter must stay inside the shelter. Some venues have chairs and tables outside, or available to rent.
- What does the rental building come with?
- All rentals include the amenities under the Rental Guide for that park.
- What does it cost to rent out a shelter?

- How do I set up a viewing?
- To set up a viewing, contact the Parks Office. They will ask for a good email address to contact you with to set up a 15-minute viewing.
