On March 27, 2020, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, which, among other things, authorizes stimulus payments to eligible individuals. If you are certified for federal tax intercept because of debt owed for child support, your Coronavirus stimulus check may be automatically intercepted by the State of Wisconsin. Any remaining balance of the stimulus payment, after debts are paid in full, will be returned to you. Anyone certified for tax intercept is mailed a notification letter at the time the case becomes eligible for intercept. If you have questions regarding whether you owe a debt that has been referred for intercept, you can call the IRS hotline at 800-304-3107 or visit the Frequently Asked Questions
from the US Department of the Treasury.
