Mission Statement:
Develop an Emergency Management program that lessens the impact of natural or man-made disasters and large-scale emergencies on the citizens of Brown County.
What does Emergency Management do?
Just what the title suggests, we manage emergencies within Brown County by providing assistance for the response of an emergency or larger disaster. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is a resource that we maintain for authorities when needed, especially during larger-scale events, to manage and deploy resources and strategize solutions. We also act as the liason for the different authorities-- when local, state, or federal assistance is required in Brown County.
But most of the time, there are no emergencies happening. So what do you do then?
Planning and preparedness are keys to success for, not if, but when an emergency or disaster occurs. We take great effort to create and update emergency plans for various businesses, organizations, and government authorities within Brown County. We also strive to keep our county prepared by developing and conducting various exercises to stay up-to-date on the latest potential threats and hazards, and how we can mitigate or have success over any problems associated with them. Finally, we spend time in public preparedness and education, as we work to let all residents of Brown County, young and old, know what to do in an emergency, and who is available to help them when they need assistance. Sometimes it is simply a matter of knowing what to do, and if not, knowing someone you can contact who does know what to do to keep you, your family, and your property safe.
