Water: Water is available in a large volunteer-filled tank on the north side of the garden, next to the shed. The program pays for the water and gardeners are encouraged to mulch and conserve water whenever possible.

Fencing: This garden is not fenced in. Gardeners are encouraged to put up their own temporary fencing at the beginning of the season, due to pests. Fencing must be removed at the end of each season.

Planting restrictions: This garden is plowed twice a year. Because of this, all plants must be annuals.

Soil: 2017 Maple and Augusta soil report2017 lead test. Soil tends to be rocky, and gardeners are encouraged to remove rocks before planting and pile them next to the garden shed.

Compost: The Maple and Augusta Community Garden has a compost bin structure that is not actively used for composting. Gardeners pile plant waste in the bin and the City then hauls it away at the end of the year. Anyone interested in actively maintaining this compost bin should contact the garden coordinator.

Waste: There is not a garbage can available at the Maple and Augusta Community Garden. Waste must be carried out.

Other: Gardeners must weed the paths around their plots. This area is each gardener's responsibility, and failing to weed makes it very difficult for others to access their plots. Laying down cardboard or other mulch at the beginning of the season can be very helpful in preventing weed growth.
