Brown County, in partnership with 24 municipalities, was awarded a $200,000 US DOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant to complete a safety action plan intended to reach zero preventable roadway deaths in the county. This plan will build off Brown County's 2018 efforts to advance a Vision Zero approach, comprehensively identify location-specific challenges and then develop appropriate treatments and projects for the identified locations.
In addition, the action plan is to identify low-cost, high impact strategies that can improve safety throughout the county on the local road system such as clear zone maintenance, upgraded signing, enhanced and widened edge line markings, bicycle lane markings or separated accommodations, rumble strips, shoulder paving, marked and/or signalized crosswalks, pavement safety edge, roundabouts and/or traffic signals, and lighting.

Survey
As part of Brown County’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) project, we are conducting a community-wide survey for the development of a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan focused on improving safety on roads in your own community.
The long-term goal is to eliminate all preventable roadway deaths and serious injuries on roadways in Brown County. Your feedback will assist the project team in identifying site-specific roadway safety concerns and in designing cost-effective, high-impact countermeasures, including infrastructure treatments and project recommendations that can reduce crashes and improve conditions for all road users.
We ask that you focus on your experiences outside of the City of Green Bay and the Oneida Nation. Both of those entities are developing their own Safety Action Plan and will likely have surveys specific to their area.
All responses are anonymous.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to help make the roads in your neighborhood and across Brown County safer for everyone!
