(Brown County, Wis.) – In response to the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, Brown County Planning and Land Services (PALS) will be taking necessary steps to protect the health and safety of our visitors and doing our part to assist with minimizing the spread.

We are monitoring developments around this issue, and we will continue to implement best practices and directives from Public Health officials, Brown County Administration, State and Federal directives, and will continue to inform the public to future changes as it relates to Planning and Land Services.

Beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. the following will take effect:
  • The PALS Department will be closed to non-employees
  • Submission of information to PALS staff will occur digitally whenever possible
If paper exchanges must occur to conduct business:
  • The paper items must be deposited by sliding the information under the department’s main entrance door.
All inspections of Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (POWTS) installations will continue to occur.

Due to the possibility of viruses being present in failing POWTS, all complaint-driven inspections of failing POWTS will be suspended until further notice.

“The safety of our employees and visitors is my top priority during these unprecedented times,” says Cole Runge, Interim Planning and Land Services Director. “We will continue to provide the high quality services Brown County has come to expect from this department, while doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
