Date: Oct. 22, 2026Time: 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm
Central Library | 515 Pine Street, downtown Green Bay
with Professor David Voelker, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
While the second Continental Congress boldly voted for American Independence on July 2, 1776, the approval of the Declaration of Independence two days later, on July 4th, had equally momentous consequences -- many of them unforeseen and unintended by the congressional delegates in Philadelphia. Prof. Voelker will explore its origins and significance for the evolution of American democracy over the last 250 years, including it continuing relevance today.
