The American Revolution is usually remembered for major political and military events along the eastern seaboard. Green Bay played a pivotal role in this story, as many Native people from the Green Bay area participated in the Battle of St. Louis in 1780, the largest battle fought west of the Appalachians during the American Revolution. A well-known participant was Charles de Langlade, the Father of Wisconsin and first settler at Green Bay.
