Wild Plant Foraging

Location: Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve - 2024 Lakeview Drive, Suamico WI
This program (lead by Matthew Normansell) will cover some of the top common edible and medicinal plant and mushrooms species that can be found in Wisconsin. You will gain hands on experience identifying plants and mushrooms from their look-a likes, get tips on how to harvest both ethically and sustainably, and get ideas on how to use these wild foods in your diet.
Matthew Normansell is a British wild food guide and foray leader for the Wisconsin Mycological Society and is certified as an Expert mushroom identifier through the Midwest American Mycological Information (MAMI) program. He has worked and trained with some of the top foragers in Europe such as Roger Phillips as well as having met with and been influenced by foragers in the US such as Pascal Baudar and Samuel Thayer.

Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Tickets can be purchased online only (unfortunately we are not taking walk-ins for this event). This event happens rain or shine with no refunds. Cost is $35/person ages 13+.
