- International Film Series: Americans Smell Good - Oct. 2, 2024 @ 7:00 pm
Americans Smell Good combines filmmaker Emir Cakaroz’s story in the U.S.A. with people from different social, racial, and ethnic backgrounds that he wouldn’t have met if he hadn’t come to this country. It explores the experience of being in between many cultures when living in a foreign land. Cakaroz is a Turkish documentary filmmaker who teaches at UW-Milwaukee. He received his BA and MA degrees in Cinema and Television at Anadolu University in Turkey and will join us afterwards via Zoom for a live Q&A.

All films are free and open to the public and are unrated but intended for a mature audience. Face coverings are encouraged for both vaccinated and unvaccinated guests.

The Neville Public Museum is proud to bring UW-GB professor Zack Kruse back to the museum for its second season of the horror film series “Nightmares at the Neville.” Nightmares at the Neville showcases three classic horror films with discussions led by Kruse, who is a scholar of comics, film, and American literature.

Popcorn and soda will be available for purchase prior to each film’s showing.

The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park invites you to “carve out” some fun this fall at our annual Public Pumpkin Carving Event, presented by Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream and Piggly Wiggly Howard/Suamico. Join us on Wednesday, October 9th, between 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pines Shelter, off the north end of the NEW Zoo’s main parking lot. Bring your own pumpkins and pumpkin-carving tools and get ready to show us your creative carving skills to help us decorate the Zoo! This event is FREE to attend but reservations are strongly encouraged.

- Veterans Lunch - Oct. 11, 2024 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
This month's speakers: Will Karl & Amanda Heidtman from Fort Howard Memorial Park. Join us for education on end-of-life planning, benefits of pre-planning, and Veteran's benefits and services at Fort Howard Memorial park. Stick around for a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.  This is an opportunity for veterans to gather, learn something new, and participate in an optional meal.

Brown County residents are invited to participate in the meal for a $5 contribution. If you're under 60, you are welcome to join us for $11.35. There is a registration form that will need to be completed in order to participate.

Location: Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve - 2024 Lakeview Drive, Suamico WI
Join us for Barkhausen's Jack-O-Lantern Walks. Registered participants can stop in anytime between 6 and 9pm. The entire family, including leashed dogs, are able to enjoy the 1.25 mile stroll through Barkhausen's glowing trails during this event. 100 uniquely carved jack-o-lanterns will line the trails that are accessible by strollers and wheelchairs.

Pre-registration is required as space is limited.  This event is a great way to enjoy a fall evening in the woods with the entire family!
