The Professional Standards Division is led by Captain Jody Lemmens who has been with the Sheriff's Office for 20 years. She has prior education and work experience in the field of Social Work and was working with The Family Services Adolescent Day Treatment Program prior to being hired by Brown County Sheriff's Office where she was sponsored through the FVTC-Academy. Captain Lemmens' road to Professional Standards Captain includes working night shift patrol, being a School Resource Officer with the Howard-Suamico School District, a promotion to Training Sergeant and then to Training Lieutenant.
The Professional Standards Division is responsible for:
- Internal Affairs
- Pre-Employment background investigations for both sworn and non-sworn applicants
- Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program--Led by Dare Officer Bryanne Gawlik
- Crime Prevention
- Public and media relations including social media accounts
- Sex Offender Registry
- Honor Guard
- Citizen and officer awards
- Training Section-including both field training and in-service training
- The Cadet Program (Formally the Explorers Program)- led by Deputy Jessica Smith
