To apply for a Deputy position with the Brown County Sheriff's Office you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a high school or the equivalent verification
- The applicant must be free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that may adversely affect performance as a deputy and has submitted to a physical assessment conducted within 9 months prior to the first day of employment by a Wisconsin licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner
- The applicant has passed a pre-employment drug test within 120 days prior to the applicants first day of employment
- The applicant has not been convicted of a federal felony, or of any offense which if committed in Wisconsin could be punished as a felony, and has not been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, or the applicant has been granted an absolute and unconditional pardon.
- Complete a satisfactory oral interview
- The applicant must be of good character.
- Applicants must pass a background investigation

- Be invited for command interview
- Be invited for a pre-background interview
- Full background investigation completed by Professional Standards
- Receive a conditional offer by the Sheriff
- Complete a psychological exam
- Complete a polygraph
- Complete medical and drug screenings
- If the applicant is a good fit for Brown County, an official offer of employment may be given
To apply for a Corrections Officer position with the Brown County Sheriff's Office you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school or the equivalent verification
- Preference given for higher education or correctional academy completion ( we will send you to the correctional academy in the first year of employment, it is not needed to apply)
- The applicant must be free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that may adversely affect performance as a deputy and has submitted to a physical assessment conducted within 9 months prior to the first day of employment by a Wisconsin licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner
- The applicant has passed a pre-employment drug test within 120 days prior to the applicants first day of employment
