June 17, 2022 - Understanding Brown County's COVID-19 Community Levels

As of yesterday, Brown County's COVID-19 community level was downgraded to low. We understand that there are questions regarding why this level changes as often as it does and hope that this helps to provide answers to some of those questions. The CDC uses the following 3 metrics to determine each county's current risk level, which is updated every Thursday:
- Total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days
- New COVID-19 hospital admissions per 100,000 people in the past 7 days
- The percent of staffed inpatient hospital beds occupied by COVID-19 patients
These numbers can vary week by week, and it's not uncommon to shift from a low to medium or high level and then back to a medium or low level again. Based on this information,
Brown County expects to see our COVID-19 community level continue to fluctuate weekly and will continue to keep you updated with the most current information.
