Go Global with 4-H International Immersion Programs in 2023
Interested in exploring all the world has to offer? If so, Wisconsin 4-H International Programs has an opportunity for you! This is your chance to learn about the world by immersing yourself in daily life as a member of a family in a different country. By participating in a homestay instead of traveling as a tourist, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the country’s culture from an insider’s perspective, evolve as a global citizen, quickly adapt to new situations and ways of communication, and develop friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
If you’re 12 years old or older, you can apply to participate with other 4-H’ers from around the U.S. to live for a month next summer in Japan, South Korea, or Taiwan!. Youth 15-18 years old are also eligible to apply to Costa Rica.
One previous delegate says, “One of my favorite parts of my exchange was learning how to make homemade tortillas with my host mother!” She also says that she gained soft skills like communication, both the Spanish language and nonverbal communication skills. Another valuable part of the experience was interacting with different people, which increased her ability to make connections with others.
Wisconsin 4-H partners with States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs where advance preparation and safety are top priorities. All 4-H international delegations are accompanied by carefully selected and trained 4-H volunteers or staff Adult Advisors who support youth delegates to ensure that they have a positive experience.
