May 10, 2024 - WI 4-H Area Animal Science Days Registration is Now Open!

WI 4-H Area Animal Science Days Registration is Area Animal Science Days is a series of day-long events held around the state in June where youth in the beef, dairy, horse, sheep, and swine projects increase their decision-making skills and knowledge of animals through judging and grading experiences.  Events include dairy cattle evaluation; livestock (beef, sheep, swine, & meat goats) evaluation; oral reasons contests for senior members; and dairy showmanship contests .  In addition, each site may offer a variety of workshops like poster and photography contests or horse judging activities.

F.A.Q
What if no one else from my county is participating and I don't have a team, can I still take part in this event?
Yes! You can judge as an individual or bring a 4-H friend and judge together. If you have less than 3 people, you will not receive a team score or be eligible for team awards. But you will still be in the running for individual awards. Plus, don't forget about the poster and photography contests that are for all species. We would love to have you join us for this day of fun, competition, and learning!

Does each person need to do their registration individually?
No, all team members for a species will be entered at the same time. For example, a 4-H volunteer or staff member enter all your senior and junior dairy judging participants for your county. However, if you are competing as an individual, without a team, you can enter yourself.

Can I do more than one contest at a time?
No, you will need to pick which contest you would like to do because they are all happening at the same time. However, the exception would be the poster and photography contests. Posters and photos will be dropped off at registration time at the beginning of the day and picked-up near the end of the contest day.

Do I need to be present for the photography and poster contests?
No, you can send them with someone else from your county if you are not participating in another contest that day. You need to complete the registration process to enter them but do not need to be present for judging because poster and photography judging will not be done face-to-face.
