Child Care Assistance (Wisconsin SHARES Program)

The child care subsidy program, Wisconsin SHARES, helps low-income working families pay for child care. Assistance can be provided to families with children up to the age of 13. In special circumstances, children over the age of 13 may be eligible. Families must be income eligible and be in a qualifying activity.

Qualifying activities include:

• employment
• attending high school (if parent is a teen under 20 years of age)
• participant in W2 (Wisconsin Works) or FSET (Food Share Employment and Training)
• student in post-secondary education who is also employed a minimum number of hours per week as determinded by program guidelines

The majority of families will pay a portion of the child care costs, and the child care benefit will be paid directly to the child care provider. Child care must be provided by a licensed or certified child care provider. Online Application
To apply for Wisconsin SHARES child care subsidy program online, please go to the State of Wisconsin's ACCESS website at https://access.wisconsin.gov and click the Apply for Benefits circle in the middle of the page.

Telephone Application
To apply for Wisconsin SHARES, or any other Economic Support benefit, by phone, please contact the Bay Lake Consortium at 1 (888) 794-5747.

In Person Application
To apply for Wisconsin SHARES in person, please come to Brown County Health & Human Services, 111 N. Jefferson Street, Green Bay, WI 54301. The Economic Support Services area is located on the 2nd floor, and open Monday through Thursday, 7:30am to 5:00pm, and Friday, 7:30am to 11:30am. Some brief paperwork will need to be completed, and then a client registration staff member will set up an appointment to meet with an eligibility worker.

Mailed Application
A paper application can be requested by calling 1 (888) 794-5747. The paper application can be returned via fax to 1.855.293.1822 or via mail to: CDPU; PO Box 5234, Janesville, WI 53547-5234.
